Prof. Hong-Cai Shang currently holds the position of principle research fellow and executive deputy director in key laboratory of Chinese internal medicine of Ministry of Education and Beijing, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine(BUCM). He is also the deputy director of Cardiology Research Institute，BUCM. In addition, he is Visiting Professor of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine and Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine, and adjunct researcher of Beijing Normal University. He was the former vice president of Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Institute of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Major research interests: method of Traditional Chinese Medicine clinical evidence evaluation and its foundation. He emphasized the combination of community studies and individual studies, explored and established individualized evaluation method of Traditional Chinese Medicine based on target achievement evaluation, which laid the foundation for objective and reasonable evaluation of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He also focused on the integration of enterprises, universities and research institutes, carried out safety evaluation of multiple kinds of Traditional Chinese Medicine injections. He provided a model for similar researches in this industry by utilizing large sample, intensive hospital monitoring method cooperative with professional, electronic data management system and multi-level quality control methods.
Prof. Hong-Cai Shang took charge of more than 10 national and provincial research projects, and won 3 2nd class National Science and Technology Progress Awards and 6 1st class Province and Ministry Awards. He has published 160 papers and 42 papers were collected by SCI journals. The total IF was 120. SCI frequency of citation has reached 236 times and one of paper has been cited for 74 times. He was selected into National Innovative Talents Promotion Project — Young and Middle-Aged Science and Technology Innovation Leading Talents, New Century Talent Supporting Project by Education Ministry and principal member of Innovative Research Team of Education Ministry -- “Prevention and Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases with Traditional Chinese Medicine”. He was also the principal of key research project supported by National Natural Science Foundation.
